Volunteer van drivers, Move On Wood Recycling

With so much going on in the workshop right now, we’re busier than ever! We’re also feeling the effects of the HGV driver shortage and we need new volunteer van drivers!

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at MOWR, supporting us in a variety of roles. We get so much from our volunteers; from the help they offer us in our day-to-day operations, to the contribution they make to our community. We urgently need van drivers to help us make collections and deliveries. As a MOWR van driver, you’ll help with bringing in reclaimed timber, and dropping off our brilliant products to the local community!

More than that though, we believe our volunteers get a lot out of working with us! Here are 5 great reasons why we think you should volunteer with us today!

Get Active!

Our roles get you up, about and moving – you’ll be kept on your toes during a day with us! Staying active in this way can help keep you physically healthy and improve your mental wellbeing.

Meet New People!

Between our staff, trainees, and volunteers, there are plenty of opportunities to make new friends in our workshop! Our team are dedicated to providing a supportive and fun working environment.

Environmental Impact

We’re a proud member of Community Wood Recycling, a UK-wide network committed to responsibly recycling and re-using waste wood. By diverting waste wood from decomposing at landfill, we cut down on the unnecessary release of harmful greenhouse gas emissions, especially methane, into the atmosphere. We waste nothing from our collections, repurposing them into firewood, bespoke furniture, and construction timber. An amazing contribution to a greener planet!

Support Your Local Community

We also offer a number of education and training programmes for vulnerable young people, such as our new Move On Employability Pathway. Our programmes offer accredited qualifications and opportunities to young people who otherwise face significant barriers to accessing positive employability outcomes.

Variety & New Skills

Our main need at the moment is for volunteers who can help with driving the van on wood collections and deliveries. However, you can also get involved in other areas, such as  talking to customers, de-nailing timber or making upcycled products in our workshop. Ultimately, we want you to have a rewarding volunteering experience.

We provide full training for our workshop volunteers;  you don’t need previous experience, just a desire to help and willingness to learn. We do ask that applicants for van driver roles already hold their full license.
